I was going to paint Our Lady of Lourdes but I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to paint for the first time Our Lady of Fatima. Later, I would discover why. The background is the sculpture relief of the Coronation of Our Lady, which is inside the Basilica of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal, above the altar. I created it for the 2023 St John Paul II Gala Fundraiser but divine providence brought it home to St. Pius X Catholic Church, where Fr. Paul Hesse is the pastor, who loves Our Lady of Fatima as much as I do.

“A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.” ~Revelation 12:1

FYI – I am painting a series of Marian paintings in honor of my mom who had a fierce devotion to Our Blessed Mother and she loved Our Lady of Lourdes. I can’t wait to get started on that painting soon.
